The alphabet, alphabet or alphabet of a language or language is the ordered set of letters. It is also the group with a particular order, of the graphs used to represent the language that serves as a communication system.

The term alphabet comes from "literate"the first two Greek letters ἄλφα (alpha, α) and βῆτα (beta, β), originally in Hebrew and Phoenician, meant "bull"and "home", respectively, the Greek alphabet is an adaptation of the Phoenician alphabet, which also led inter alia to Hebrew. For its part, the term comes from the Late Latin alphabet abecedārium, also derived from the name of the alphabet, in this case four: a (a), b (be), c (ce) d (of).

Some letters may receive one or more diacritics to distinguish the sounds of the language or to avoid ambiguity. Likewise, the alphabet can be understood by the use of supplementary letters. The phonetic evolution of a language is created at a different rate of evolution written. Alphabetic writing does not guarantee a correspondence between phonemes and graphemes.
